From “I Know” to “Yes”

What is the difference between knowing the truth and living the truth? It’s kind of like reading your Bible but not living out what you are reading. Have you ever asked someone if they are Christian and they say “I go to church”? Do they GO to church or ARE they THE church?

How can we live out the truth? I was talking to a friend the other day and giving him advice. He’s extremely biblically sound so his response to most of what I said was “I know”. Because he does! He KNOWS the truth and he KNOWS what he should be doing in almost every situation because of his wisdom.

I told him “I know that you know the truth but you have to put the truth before your feelings.” How often do we know what God says about us but we choose to listen to what the world tells us? Do you know that God is going to use your situation for good or do you trust that He IS right now. We know many truths. Some include that God turns all things for good when you give them to Him, He loves us despite our flaws, and that He is always working. So how often do you let your feelings tell you that nothing positive will come out of this situation, that He doesn’t love you because you fell into temptation, or that He forgot about you and isn’t working in your situation.

Do you not know the meaning of truth? It never ends. God’s love and grace is never ending. Nothing you do can change that. that’s the TRUTH. Stop trying to understand God through a human perspective. We don’t have the capacity in our SMALL minds to understand GOD. He is not like us. He is perfect, He does not give only two chances, He doesn’t leave when you cheat on Him, He doesn’t lie to you. Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding”. Don’t compare your understanding of God to what a sinful human would do. know the TRUTH of who God is.

Are you saying “I know” to God but not being obedient to that knowledge? It does not matter how well you know the bible or how often you go to church if you do not practice the bible or BE the church. God simply does not care whether you have a theology degree if you are not using it correctly. Your resume does not impress God. However, how can you practice the bible if you do not know the bible? That is simply IMPOSSIBLE. These two ideas go hand in hand. You need one in order to do the other. You get truth from the bible.

Stop just knowing and start living your knowledge. Where is your obedience?
